Howlin’ is a knitwear brand based in Antwerp with production roots dating back to 1981, when the family began working on traditional Scottish knitwear. In 2009 Howlin’ was officially born, a project that allows reinterpreting that heritage with greater creative freedom, while keeping respect for yarns, workmanship, and durability central. The result is European knitwear that combines technical tradition, humour, and a deliberately personal aesthetic.

The collections are produced between Scotland, Ireland, and Belgium, territories with different skills but united by a long textile culture. Shetland wool, mohair, and other fibers are transformed into crewnecks, cardigans, scarves, and accessories through classic constructions but colors, jacquard, and less predictable proportions. Howlin’ synthesizes this approach in the formula “good yarns, strange ideas, timeless craftsmanship”: the quality of the yarn remains serious, while the design can afford to be ironic and experimental.

The Howlin’ selection on Setaccio is currently entirely produced in Scotland and mainly revolves around Shetland wool. Models like Birth of the Cool, Shaggy Bear, Future Memories, and Boxy Space Knit coexist with cardigans, scarves, and hats, while some variants introduce wool-mohair blends and jacquard patterns. Fits range from classic constructions to boxy volumes, always maintaining a tactile feel and an image strongly linked to Nordic knitwear.
