Ballantyne is a knitwear maison with deep Scottish roots. The history of the textile family begins in 1820, while 1921 marks the official birth of D. Ballantyne Brothers & Co., a reality specifically dedicated to cashmere knitwear. During the twentieth century the brand builds an international reputation around the quality of the yarns and the craftsmanship of the knitwear, until receiving the Queen’s Award in 1966. Since 2004 the project has entered a new Italian phase, maintaining the Scottish heritage as a cultural reference.

The Diamond pattern is Ballantyne’s most recognizable visual code. Diamonds and chromatic intarsia are applied to cashmere, wool and fine blends through techniques that require precision in the arrangement of colors and yarn tension. Alongside the Diamond sweaters coexist essential crewnecks, polos and lighter garments, allowing the brand to move from heritage to everyday wear without losing coherence. Knitwear remains the core of the project, but the wardrobe has progressively expanded while always keeping the material as the dominant element.

The Ballantyne selection on Setaccio mainly includes knitwear and Made in Italy polos. Diamond crewnecks in cotton-cashmere, pure cashmere models, cotton piquet polos and superlight proposals are present, as well as seasonal wool and blends garments. Cashmere is particularly present in the assortment and coexists with cotton, wool and linen, offering different weights and levels of warmth.
