In Sri Lanka, Palinda Kannangara created the Frame Holiday Structure with a budget of $40,000. The structure, made with a steel framework, exposed bricks and wooden floors, can be easily dismantled and moved to adapt to the plain in which it stands, subject to periodic flooding. In Luciano Lerner Basso's Casa Fortunata, in Brazil, the surrounding nature is welcomed: the structure, in fact, was built around a tree of a protected species and rests on stilts so as not to disturb the forest floor. The Loom House in Miller Hull, near Seattle, has been called "the world's most environmentally ambitious home renovation" for its focus on recycled materials and energy efficiency.
