In Sri Lanka, Palinda Kannangara created the Frame Holiday Structure with a budget of $40,000. The structure, constructed with a steel framework, exposed brick, and wooden floors, can be easily dismantled and moved to adapt to the flat terrain on which it stands, which is subject to periodic flooding. Luciano Lerner Basso's Casa Fortunata in Brazil embraces the surrounding nature: the structure was built around a protected tree and rests on stilts to avoid disturbing the forest floor. Miller Hull's Loom House, near Seattle, has been called "the most environmentally ambitious home renovation in the world" for its focus on recycled materials and energy efficiency.
